Bali has turned into a favourite island destination in the recent years. Having won many awards, Bali is famous for its varied landscapes of hills and mountains, coastlines and beaches, along with its colourful, spiritual and unique culture.

We went to Bali to celebrate our tenth anniversary. So the place and activities for the trip became all the more special.

Bali proves to be one of the most beautiful destinations, where various fun-activities and all kind of water sports including scuba diving, snorkeling, undersea-walk, parasailing, speedboat and other adventure activities for adrenaline junkies. This is also called as surfers’ paradise too. Its fairly large island to explore. Some of the famous places of interest are Kuta beach, Kuta market, Ubud market, Seminyak, Jimbaran Bay, Ulluwatu, Tanah lot, Blue bay and Nusa dua.

Its famous folk dances are barong dance, kecak fire dance and its very own cultural dances performed by girls. Most distinctively facial expressions and their finger movements are quite elaborate during any dance forms.

Bali Is also famous for its variety of seafood and volcanoes. Hard rock café at Bali was altogether a wonderful experience. And performance by Rock-band from Jakarta was fabulous.

One of the must travel locations in Bali is Ubud, a town in the deeper part of the island known for its art, craft, markets, museums, monuments as well monkey forest. We stayed at The Royal Pita Maha Resort and Spa, the best resort in Ubud. It is huge, beautiful, surrounded by river, valley and variety of flora and fauna. With private pool villas and suites, it would be correct to quote it as honeymooner’s paradise. Ubud is also famous for its stone and woodcarving. We bought a beautiful wood carved showpiece for our home as souvenir.

The Fun doesn’t end here; Lombok is another nearby island, which is, must visit for any tourist to Bali. Lombok is famous for its picturesque sandy beaches. It offers many dream beaches and poster perfect sunset spots. Nature has gifted best of the canvas colours and amazing landscapes. Even in such a remote location natives recognize Indians and relate with their knowledge of Bollywood. In this archipelago there are endless options for island hopping and we opted for a relatively small and silent one.

At the Gili Ayer (pronounced as Gili Air), we hired a speedboat to go to this smaller island in 20 minutes. Gili islands are remote islands; motor traffic and automobiles are prohibited on the island. Transportation is by foot, bi-cycle or horse drawn-carriage called Cidomo.  A trip round the entire island on foot takes less than an hour and half.

Most amazing beaches, amazingly colourful sunsets and adrenaline filled fun activities are what we got during this trip to Bali. Sand, sea and sky offered such vast variety of colors that Mother Nature seemed like the most beautiful artist in Bali.

Bali is a must visit place, I would suggest to club it with a Lombok and Gili islands too. Sun, sea and sand can’t get better for me at least till date.
